Jessica Hoenig, Lipper Internship
“For the spring 2011 semester, I was chosen along with 14 other undergraduate and graduate students in the northeast to participate in the Lipper Internship at the Museum of Jewish Heritage: A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in New York City.” Read more

Andrew Kolbenschlag, Internship at The Trentonian
This summer, Andrew spent his July-September working at The Trentonian, a local Tenton newspaper. Though he started off writing mainly police blotters, he eventually had the opporuntity to write several pieces on New Jersey history. Of the experience, Andrew says, “The experience of writing for a newspaper was, for me, priceless. I loved it.”

Global Studies Options
Many of our history majors spend a semester or even a year abroad. There are many summer opportunities available as well, including TCNJ faculty-taught courses abroad! Volunteer Prison Teaching Experience at AC Wagner Youth Correctional Facility
Students at The College of New Jersey have the unique opportunity to experience life inside a prison, while providing meaningful support for young inmates. Each semester, TCNJ professors teach a course inside Wagner Youth Correctional Facility, Bordentown, in which students sit alongside current inmates. Whether the topic is the prison culture itself or drug-related offenses, the joint courses offer both groups the chance to benefit from each others’ varied experiences and lifestyles. In addition, many TCNJ students are actively involved in teaching inside Wagner, whether they teach or co-teach a class themselves or tutor individual inmates. Those involved have shared only positive feedback, indicating that the experience is beneficial both to the inmates and the TCNJ students.
